Job Description

PURPOSE AND DESCRIPTION OF JOB ROLE:
Working with the Senior Occupational Health and Wellbeing Advisor you’ll deliver and evolve a forward-thinking occupational health service. You’ll actively champion wellbeing to optimise attendance and empower our people to thrive.
You’ll contribute to a culture where wellbeing and high performance are aligned, working directly with the force’s strategic objectives.

 

SPECIFIC ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Undertake case management and produce management reports, assessing and authorising the provision of recuperative duties, including adjustments and return to work programmes, monitoring, and adaptation.
• You will provide advice, guidance and support to staff, managers, and HR on managing sickness absence, rehabilitation, workplace adjustments, restrictions, and proactive measures to support health and wellbeing following relevant policies and procedures and good practice.
• Participate in a range of case conferences, providing health/medical advice to assist in the decision-making process.
• Support the set-up of a Wellness Clinic and undertake the validation/calibration and maintenance of the equipment following any cleaning regimes.
• Conduct workplace and risk assessments, identify appropriate solutions/advice to alleviate problems, and recommend any changes needed. Promoting an awareness of duty of care in relation to safe
JOB DESCRIPTION

Undertake pre-employment medical screening by examining Health/Medical Questionnaires, questioning applicants and/or requesting additional information before assessing their suitability for employment. Devising, implement and operate a health screening/surveillance programme for staff in post.
• Carry out research into areas of high levels of absence/health problems and recommends courses of action to reduce/eliminate the problems.
• Assess and interpret results from audio-metric and vision tests for applicants and existing staff in at risk groups.
• Organise and carry out periodic health checks on staff in ‘at risk’ groups and monitor deviation from health norm standards of hygiene and control of infectious diseases.
• Promotes the service of occupational health and wellbeing in all dealings with staff and managers including induction courses. Provides health education and presentations, training and input into training courses on all aspects of occupational health and wellbeing.
• Ability to travel on an individual basis with equipment within the Derbyshire.
• Undertake such other duties commensurate with the post as may be required for the safe and effective performance of the job.

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Essential:
• Registered Nurse (Nursing and Midwifery Council) and hold a postgraduate diploma or an undergraduate degree in Occupational Health, NMC level 3 (or relevant equivalent qualification)
• Experience working as an Occupational Health and Wellbeing Advisor; providing Occupational Health and Wellbeing advice and guidance to supervisors, senior managers and key stakeholders
• Knowledge of health surveillance and fitness for work assessments; particularly venepuncture, audiometry and spirometry
• Experience of vaccination storage and administration, anaphylaxis and basic life support
• Experience of successfully implementing Occupational Health and Wellbeing projects
• Ability to make routine decisions using initiative and judgement through the analysis of medical information and testing data; working with minimal supervision
• Ability to develop and maintain excellent communication with staff, communicating confidently and effectively and maintaining good working relationships with a diverse range of people
• Understand the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), Data Protection Act and all legislation in relation to medical confidentiality including storage, access and transfer of medical records
