Job description

Main Purpose of the Job;

To provide professional health services, support the well-being of our workforce, and ensure compliance with health & safety regulations.

 

Key Responsibilities;

  • Health Surveillance:

  • Conduct health assessments and screenings for employees, including pre-employment and periodic health checks.

  • Monitor and manage the health surveillance program, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

  • Health screening includes but is not limited to: Audiometry / Spirometry / Vision Screening / Skin Assessments / HAV’s / Forklift Truck Medicals / New Stater Screening / Drug & Alcohol Testing

  • Injury and Illness Management:

  • Provide immediate response and first aid for workplace injuries or illnesses.

  • Collaborate with on-site medical facilities and external healthcare providers to manage more serious cases.

  • Complete onsite flu immunisations.

  • Health Promotion:

  • Develop and implement health promotion initiatives, campaigns, and training programs to enhance employee well-being.

  • Conduct educational sessions on topics such as nutrition, stress management, and overall health.

  • Case Management:

  • Manage occupational health cases, maintaining accurate and confidential records.

  • Have strong data literacy skills and be proficient in various software for tracking and updating occupational health cases.

  • Liaise with external health professionals, maintaining effective communication throughout the case resolution process.

  • Complete off-site visits as and when they are required.

  • Health and Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, advising on necessary adjustments to maintain a safe working environment.

  • Participate in risk assessments and provide recommendations for hazard control.

  • Emergency Response:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of emergency response protocols.

  • Provide support during critical incidents, working closely with the emergency response team.

  • Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with HR, management, and external agencies to support the overall health and well-being strategy.

  • Communicate effectively with employees, providing guidance on health-related matters.

  • Help develop and build new processes to enhance employee’s wellbeing across the group.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in Occupational Health, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration.
  • Post registration qualification in Occupational Health Nursing.
  • Knowledge of UK health and safety regulations and legislation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Compliance with GDPR.
